Ep.18- What a Tangled Web We Weave (3/22/01)

Date- 3 April 1942
The game opened up with the PC's being loaned out (again) to the FBI to deal with some possible Super powered problems on the Docks of Seattle. They waited on the rooftop of a warehouse waiting half the night for a delivery truck to come by and some guys to open up a warehouse on the other side of the street. After watching these guys from the delivery truck unloading for a while, the FBI sprang into action and began arresting the oriental looking thugs who were unloading the truck. They of course did not want to come peacefully so a fight ensued. The PC's lept into action and began knocking thugs out left and right. Frost charged into the warehouse and was surprised when the thugs inside pulled out automatic weapons and began spraying the place with hot lead. He dived behind some crates of oriental greens just missing being perforated. Soon the other guys entered the warehouse and were surprised to see a six armed woman with spider like appendages ordering the thugs around in Japanese. The managed to KO the thugs but the spider lady, calling herself Spider Queen, vowed to get revenge on the PC's. After cleaning up the mess on the docks the guys went back to HQ to report back to Agent Hewitt of the Warden Project.
Several mysterious disappearances and deaths at the Boeing plant sparked the interest of Agent Hewitt at the Office of Counter Espionage at the Warden Project. He assigned the PC's after debriefing them on the Dock Raid to go out with a couple of experienced operatives to check out the problems at Boeing. As they were leaving the building to go to their car a bomb underneath there car prematurely went off knocking everybody to the ground. Multiple Man noticed something small and brown running away from the wreckage of the car and snagged it with one of his duplicates. It turned out to be an evil looking medium dog sized spider. Emrald Demon used that opportunity to use his patented ventriloquism act to convince everybody the spider was talking before Frost encased it in a ball of ice and dropped it off with Cpt. Conondrum for study.
They requisitioned a new car and went to the County coroners to check out one of the bodies and discovered that the fellow, a aeronutical engineer at Boeing, had been given lethal doses of some type of poison that may have been insect borne. Not exactly sure of what was happening they went to Boeing to investigate further.
At Boeing they met with the supervisor for several of the missing people from the project, two assemby line workers and one janitor. They found out that the two assembly line workers had gone missing blocks away from the plant and that the janitor had gone missing on site. They went to the research office where the janitor had gone missing from and found out that the office housed the Cirus X-3 prototype rocket pack project which the aeronautical engineer had been working on. His assistant helped the guys look around and Mr. Mnemonic discovered that something had crawled through an air vent and pryed open a window from the outside. The PC's notified the base security force of this and recommended putting the Project Assistant under house guard and to fortify the defenses for the building.
The assistant was put under house guard and held in the brig until suitable arrangements for his safety could be made. Multiple Man was sent out to get the assistants belonging from his house on base and on his return to the security office he heard the piercing scream of a woman in distress. He allerted the rest of his team of what he heard and headed for the source of the scream, a prototype YB-35 Nightwing Flying Wing which was lying on the runway. Mr. Mnemonic was the first to enter the plane and discovered the entire interior of the plane was covered in cob-webs. Frost and Emrald Demon entered behind Mr. Mnemonic. As the went from the empty bomb bay to the cockpit of the bomber they were surprised to find a beautiful young woman being held in the clutches of a giant spider that encompased the entire front cockpit area. Multiple Man tried breaking into the cockpit through the front window and was bitten by a spider and soon paralyzed after sending multiples of himself to the security office to ask for help. The rest of the guys fought the spiders but were soon overcome by the sheer numbers of insects and Frost was eventually brought down by the woman who was in actuality the Spider Queen in disguise.
