After the the diabacle at the movie theatre the guys bummed around for a few days trying to dig up German American Bund members for information on where the evil Dr. Kreiger was hiding out. They visited John Haflinger and Chameleon was able to get some information on Frederick Hartkopf, the man responsible for setting up the kidnapping of Nick Hunter. They found Langhausen's home but wasn't able to find Lanhausen.
Monday rolled around and everything went back to normal. Locamotive showed up for work to find a coraners wagon and several police vehicles at the train yard. After finding out that one of the guys on the night shift had been horribly ripped apart by some wild animal in a cargo car, he managed to dig up a manifest for the cargo car that listed several items being shipped from South America to the Chicago Museaum of Natural History for further study. Locamotive also took this time to talk to the FBI agents sent in to investigate the murder at the trainyard and even went to as far as to reveal his powers to them. They decided to take him in for questioning regarding his and his friends activities (who they also wanted to meet but Locamotive wasn't willing to talk about). They eventually let him go.
Chameleon was confronted by Christi Ford, the HS Nurse, who just happened to be at the Loews theatre the night of the big ruckus and noticed him in the crowd. She also saw some very strange people leaping about and doing some very strange things.
Green Lantern who had volunteered for emergency room duty at the local hospital met a guy spouting off about some strange creature running around eating people and a couple of corpses of some wierd animal attack, all of whom had had their hearts ripped out of their chests as a result of the attacks.
The guys did manage to keep tabs on Nick Hunter who was under protective custody at the local orphanage and his mother Patsy who was under guard at St. Marry's Hospital. On Wednesday the guys visited Patsy Hunter. The armed police guards normally in front of here room were missing and as they burst in, they found one unconcous and the other tied up in a chair, Mrs. Hunter was gone. Rushing to the fire escape they saw six gentlemen escorting a wheelechair bound Mrs. Hunter and Nick Hunter to two black sedans. They basically went into full hero mode and began jumping out the window and setting up force walls around Mrs. Hunter, Nick, and 2 of the gentlemen. After Chameleon and Locamotive managed to take out two of the Bundists and one of the get-away cars the two in the force wall took Mrs. Hunter hostage and ordered the guys to stop or they would shoot. Chameleon took this opportunity to go invisible and slash the tires of their remaining get-away car and then don the coat and hat of one of the unconsious Bundists while the other Bundists were busy getting into the final car. Maneuvering around he managed to get a shotgun on one of the Bundists holding a gun on Mrs. Hunter but the driver didn't care and poured on the gas. The scene ends with the bundists getting away in a car with 2 flat tires and our heroes running for Green Lanterns car.
